How to Look Great in Your Professional Head Shot!
Choose colors you look good and FEEL good in, that fit you well (baggy clothing can make you look larger). Avoid jackets that are too tight to button.
Clothing should be neatly pressed (there isn't an "Iron Tool" in Photoshop. ;-)
Classic clothing keeps your image from becoming dated quickly. Solids or very small patterns photograph best, and mid tones and darker colors help keep the attention on to your face rather than your clothing.
Long sleeves are recommended as well. Sleeveless can be distracting, and also screams 'seasonal'.
For women : crew, boat or or v-necks are always flattering and will always lay nicely. Busy necklines with layers dont always behave.
Keep jewelry simple! If you do want to wear a statement piece for a splash of personality, we can photograph some images with and some without.
Drink plenty of water and get a good night's rest the day before/of your session.
Avoid junk food, fried foods, sugar and alcohol to help keep your skin looking fresh. (But of course any last minute blemishes etc can to taken care of in the retouch after.)
Facial hair should be neatly groomed and a haircut a week or so before is helpful also.
Relax! This will be painless, we promise!
